According to new research conducted by Core Data, two fifths of Australians are feeling pressured to keep up appearances and this is coming as a sacrifice to forgo property ownership .
Saving Up A Deposit
No doubt, saving up a deposit is one of the hardest parts towards getting into the property market. Many Australians struggle to save at the same time as paying rent, going on holidays, and raising a family.
Of course a lot also depends on what the property market is doing at the present moment. The market tends to be cyclical and will go up for a number of years and then go down for a number of years, and then back up again. However ultimately the rise in prices in the long term appears to be much greater than the slow downs.
It may be easier to get into the property market when the prices are lower, from a deposit point of view, but often this will also mean that lending criteria has tightened.
